Uh huh. I’ve worked for “separately-run” businesses. (“We bought you because we love how you do what you do! Why would we change that?”) It’s usually true at first, for a very short period. Then it isn’t true anymore, although everyone still says it is. Then eventually, the purchasing company just gets tired of the pretense and drops it.

My kids regularly watch Netflix on my PS3, which even has a “Just for kids” option at launch that presents kid-friendly viewing options in a simpler interface.

The PS3 has a web browser. It’s absolutely awful, though it’s rumored to have improvements on the horizon. Boxee also has a web browser, which is a bit better. And if you use aTV Flash from FireCore to extend the abilities of your AppleTV, it can have one too.

Thank you for mentioning that Java and JavaScript are very different. As a web developer, you’d be surprised how many people I have to explain this to. And many of them recruit or manage in my industry.

I’ve had iPhones since the first one. Yet I’m considering an Android this time around. Possibly this one or the Note.
I just get the feeling that the iPhone 5 will be the first one not to really innovate very much—Apple seems to be honing the iPhone bit by bit with each generation, and it really feels like the 4S is largely what they wanted to get to all along.
It’s hard to get a clear picture, though, because of how polarized people get about Apple products. I just wish I weren’t going to be stuck with whatever decision I make for two years.
