It is definitely pragmatism, and certainly shows the inherent challenge of manifesting complex applications in a such a simple UI.

I think Microsoft is definitely iterating, but it might be choosing to allow more traditional solutions a pass in order to bring the product to market on time… which is ok and not ok at the same time.

UISegmentedControl is something that has appeared before within Metro, but in a much more elegant form in Zune (top, left); a simple gesture of bolding text and layering text indicates context and hierarchy:

Windows 8 has essentially three forms of presenting controls: the ribbon (from Windows 7), the app bar, and the radial menu in OneNote MX (definitely, one of the most interesting). I’d like to see how they choose to consolidate or move from there.

Ugh… it looks like Microsoft itself is confused on how to implement Metro across different uses.

Look at all the inconsistencies between the new apps (microphone has a sidebar on the right, ok? movie moments has big square bottons outside the app bar? random search bard on the top right??? whatever happened to ‘universal search charm’ . They clearly got out of Windows 8’s original template format.

The Xbox Music app is just bad. They added 30% of chrome just by putting a huge-ass sidebar there…

I really hope Microsoft doesn’t mess up Metro and knows how to polish instead of ruining it… but these screenshots are not comforting…

I’m Latino and I find this completely unnecessary and utterly hilarious.

Plus, even if Verizon had good intentions, why would they pick J.Lo as their Latino ambassador? O_o or even go as far as brand the entire campaign as ‘by Jennifer Lopez’? Since when does J.Lo have mass market appeal or is a mobile industry expert? Never.

Like I said: hilarious XD

PS. When I thought Verizon had the worst logo, they give birth to a worser one X_X
