Thank you for focusing in on the real issue. Before the WWW, you had the same situation online. Various players trying to corner the market with proprietary solutions (Goodbye Prodigy, AOL, Compuserve, et. al.). Thank god for STANDARDS!
It’s too bad the article couldn’t give us an update on the Verizon-Google Wallet situation. A perfect example of anti-competitive behavior that harms the consumer.
While it was encouraging to hear this: “Visa announced that it had licensed its payWave system to Google”, too many players have been working to block the only open/trusted platform for cross-platform mobile payments, Google Wallet.
