I think another angle to approach the variety of content from is that this site is quite different from other sites in how it imbues a sense of inclusion for the reader through the different media you can immerse yourself in. Meaning, if you listen to all the podcasts and watch a good portion of the video content, you “get to know” the personalities of the people in the forefront of The Verge staff and that lends another level of meaning to the articles, even the no-so-tech ones. Getting to know how Josh, Nilay, Paul, Chris, Vlad etc. typically respond to different subjects imparts more value on their opinions and allows you to understand more how your own opinions compares or contrasts. Very few of us may actually “know” any of these folks on any real level but the way the reporting is done here makes you feel a little like you do, and that’s valuable in itself.
