Motion graphics artist & designer. I also dabble in photography. I'm mostly in this for the smartphone news. Not sure why I am so obsessed with them... it probably stems from playing Fallout as a child: I just want a real-life pip-boy I guess.

I appreciate the response. I should make it clear: I completely support what Paul is doing. Also, I am completely interested in his observations and thoughts on his experiences. That being said, what I was trying to express was my own lack of surprise at his discoveries. It probably could have gone without saying because its kind of a given. It’s our nature.
All that to say: great men and women have accomplished great things because of their passion and drive. Removing distractions is really only one component toward that end. It will not birth greatness in and of itself.
I get the general sense that we are in agreement? Either way, I look forward to more updates from the offline world.

Very interesting read… I feel like Paul is starting to crack a little maybe. But who knows, maybe he just has to push through this phase to get on to “enlightenment” or whatever.
Here’s the fact: people have been procrastinating and seeking distraction/trivia for ages. It’s more about the type of person than their surroundings, if you ask me. Does the internet make it even easier to find distractions? Yes (I write this as I distract myself from some freelance work).
100 years ago, did people have long lists of “books I really should read some day” or “projects I should really get started or finished”? You bet they did. Taking the internet out of the equation isn’t going to magically make someone a focused, driven genius.

But on topic, the article (and maybe Huang also) didn’t clarify: is this intended to stream over an internet connection or is it literally going to come through a cable subscription?

That video shows a tower climber using something like you and Killer rin are talking about. Although, this tower seems much smaller than the one from the article.

That 2nd video… yikes. Much of the structure he is climbing along the way… it’s not even made for climbing! Seriously insane.
Now, does anyone have any insight into how you build a 1768ft guided tower???

Yeah, because the credibility of the words of a dead person is completely solid. They should always be taken at face value. Christian said it, so it’s true and us viewers shouldn’t second guess it.

Thanks for posting this! Pretty awesome to hear the extended interview and it has removed some of my “Lost” bitterness.

I’m gonna throw in my opinion here: The Besties is easily one of my favorite podcasts. I love it the way it is. Though, I liked it better without Robo-Chris Grant deciding things. By all means, argue it out for the winner.
Here’s what’s awesome:
1. Succinct – never too long, though I wouldn’t mind it to be longer.
2. Structured – It’s not a “gimmick,” it’s a structure. It really helps keep the show from dragging (i.e. belaboring one point or topic for half the show).
3. Informative – It always introduces 4 new games to me and gives me some reasons to check them out. It doesn’t get stuck on the same old games and nostalgia.
4. Funny – Really really funny.
I listen to the Vergecast and the Verge Mobile Podcast each week. I enjoy them, but they can get stuck on one topic for 45+ minutes. The Besties doesn’t have to be like those podcasts. It’s been really awesome the way it is. Moves quick. Over before you know it. Leaves you wanting more.
My only suggestion: move to a bi-weekly or quad-weekly format. Thanks.

Agreed. Also, the Droid 3 uses an OMAP 4 processor… just like the Bionic and RAZR (and Galaxy Nexus for that matter). Why shouldn’t the Droid 3 get ICS???

EXACTLY. There’s some good reading material on the matter. Really, it’s the first and last thing anyone needs to read on Ninjas.
