We need a Nexus Google TV device. Look how much trouble Google had getting Android in the tablet game until they released their own, the Nexus 7.

Or hack the device. It can’t be that hard to disable it.

I bet it’s identical to the T-Mobile version in hardware.

I agree, I have over 100 apps and barely use over a gig. Not saying I wouldn’t like them to start putting bigger flash storage in phones! 16GB is starting to look smaller and smaller.
It’s time to move to 32GB as the base model. Cloud storage works pretty well for me (lucky enough to live in an area with great 4G coverage from most carriers) but I can see why some people couldn’t deal with small amounts of internal memory.

As a Starbucks employee, I’m really glad that Starbucks is leading the charge (hehe) with mobile technology. We’re pretty much the leader in mobile payments and now hopefully we’ll be the forerunner for wireless charging tech.
Interesting read about how Starbucks influenced WiFi adoption, I was too young at the time

I agree, even Google released the Nexus 4 which uses the Qi standard but they are a member of the PMA? I don’t get it.

Maybe self driving cars ARE a superior mass transit system. Roads are everywhere, it would be way more practical than building an entire new infrastructure for a “superior” mass transportation system. People would supply their own vehicles so it would cost less to roll out.
Governments could supply carpools that operate on predetermined paths to serve those who can’t afford their own private vehicle, and they could even supply incentives (such as tax breaks) to drivers that would use their own private vehicles as a carpool. Of course taxis and buses would still exist.
You’re right though, this is ridiculously far in the future. If my predictions are even accurate, it wouldn’t come to fruition in either of our lifetimes.

Remind me where I said that this is running a full fledged version of Android. Obviously it is running a separate firmware but I don’t think it’s ridiculous to say that many Android features will find it’s way to Glass over time…which is why I said “eventually”.
I believe your iOS/OS X comparison is completely off as well.

I feel ya. Hopefully with software optimization and refinements in battery technology, the consumer version of Glass will be able to achieve better battery life

I can’t say being that I’ve never used Glass but judging by the fact that it runs Android, I’d assume sharing will (or eventually) tie in Android’s current “Share” feature (which, if you don’t own an Android devices, allows ANY app to share information, not just apps that are integrated). I’d also assume it will probably allow for multiple recipients just like e-mail and messaging does…

I think that all the things they are learning by being first out of the gate with this type of product will give them a valuable head start. For such a unique device like this it’s pretty ridiculous to say they’re leaving the door wide open for another company to steal their thunder
