I agree that its a great app, but this implementation of a zoom feature was not well thought out. Maintaining context during detail work is un-necessary as it’s easy to regain context by immediately zooming out. I’m not sure attempting to maintain two size contexts while also giving ample room to draw is possible. The video above suggests this lends itself to gimmickry rather than useful UI. But maybe that’s just me. Best would be to give the user choice of either method.
One of my greatest wants in this is to zoom in as much as I deem necessary, and, with a visual grid, be reminded of my zoomed context. Only one static zoom amount, as the developer has utilized, is almost as useless as none.
I realize the creators have worked very hard in the first iterations of the app to maintain its simplicity. But it’s time to leave a little caution behind and let this app become a truly great innovation.
