This reminds me of an article I read in a hifi magazine explaining an “audiophile quotient”. Basically, the three most important things in listening to music is the quality, convenience, and the music itself. iTunes sacrifices the quality for the convenience of listening to the music you want with little to no hassle. Which would make it maybe 10/45/45 (quality, convenience, and the music, respectively). If you want high quality sound, you’d have to deal with vinyl, phono preamps, DACs, and even expensive cables, making it more like 45/10/45. There is no right quotient obviously, though we all probably like to think we’re at an even 33/33/33.

I think he’ll make it.
Sure the first week will be hell. Then he’ll find more creative ways of getting by. Later on he’ll get by so well, he may not even come back.
