You’re absolutely right, but NYC isn’t any other city. I was just excited I got away without paying a broker’s fee. Sure, my rent is probably elevated, but I’ve had many New Yorkers tell me I got a really good deal.
When I moved here 2 months ago, I had to find a place in one day. I ended up going no-fee for a true 1 br in the East Village with a full-sized kitchen, in-unit washer and dryer, and a private roof deck. Sure it’s a 5th floor walk up and 3000 a month, but I love it. Oh yeah, new renovation. I had to take the plastic off the appliances.
