I recently came over from android (long time); one of the things that sealed the deal was how much faster and more accurate – though admittedly nowhere near as extensive: no punctuation, what? – the voice commands were on wp8. (Of course, the Nokia vs. Samsung/HTC audio hardware might be a factor as well.)

Worse build quality? You have clearly never seen one.

I agree. I don’t really like the operating system (and missed two mouse buttons from way-back-in-the-day), really dislike itunes, and – unfortunately – my contrarian nature doesn’t want to be just one more person behind the identical glowing apple… but price is not only no longer a factor, I’d say that the MBA is a great value.

Right. Some people, for instance, don’t like osx (and no, don’t want to run virtual machines), don’t like itunes…

Bingo. The Single Dumbest Easiest to Fix piece of behavior on wp8.
(And can the browser really not reformat text – text flow – when you zoom or change orientation?)

You can leave as much space as you’d like.

From my brief experience with wp8, the tiles can be very small (thus not taking more room than ios icons) and can function just about exactly like widgets.

Redundant and on it’s way out (at least in that scenario).

Let’s not forget lack of right mouse button, which is – to me, at any rate – like working with one hand tied behind my back.
(Of course, they may have put one on by now… if so, sorry :))

Well put. But, in reply to the classic “why can’t ANYONE build a functioning trackpad like Apple?” line, is the trackpad REALLY still the primary input device on a touchscreen computer?

All well and good, but to this day every time I use a Mac that damned dock at the bottom keeps swooping in when I don’t want it too. And it has that stupid “finder/chooser” crap, too… :)

A Basquiat just went for 48 million. Probably took him an hour to paint it (in between hits, waiting for the man).
The bottom line: money isn’t worth what it used to be. (At least unless you happen to still have to work for it.:)) At the top it’s inflated into nothing but a concept, only given value by the fact that people at the bottom (or should I say, bottom 99%) are forced to work for it at it’s old value. The rich can spend insane amounts of money on anything they want. It amounts, basically, to a two-tiered system.

Horrible in the real world. (and around and around we go :))
And another thing: I’m fine with the possibility of an AOSP HTC One, but just for balance I offer this:
I’ve had two HTC phones and there was nothing wrong with the software; Sense was fine. I even liked it. But the phones ultimately sucked because the batteries were too small, there was nowhere near enough memory, and the cameras sucked.

Yeah, but when the S4 battery runs out you can slam in another one. That cost $10. Game over.
Mr. HTC will be looking for an outlet.
