From what I read, it sounded like he was merely saying, [Whatever I’m working on now is the most important thing that I’ve been working on], as in the thing he is working on at any point in the future will always be the most important’. I don’t think he was specifically saying anything about a new product

If the rumours about the screen change are true for the iPhone then they will update the iPod touch as well to keep it simple for developers

Going off review scores can be a dangerous game, particularly for the more indie games which can’t add the kind of polish that the large studios do. Yes I will tend to avoid any game with a score less than 5/10, but there are many games with 6 or 7 which are well worth playing, but have a few niggles. Maybe the combat it a little repetitive, but the story is fantastic.
Excluding games based on their score can exclude many a game which have a few mis-steps but also some real gems.

I totally agree with avoiding Achievement guides. Yes a lot of people like to get 100% and all the trophies, I count myself among them. But by reading these you learn bits and pieces of the story that will lessen the impact when you see then in-game.
Generally I’ll play a game how I want, and if I enjoyed it enough I’ll play it again, this time using the Achievement guide. This way I get the full impact of the game the way it was meant to be received.

The ads on The Verge are very discrete and, in my experience, very relevant to me. I can’t speak to the sound issue as I normally have the sound turned off (particularly at work)

I wouldn’t say they are anti-Microsoft but maybe less critical of Apple.
You could view this as a plus as their Microsoft articles are more well rounded

That’s because you know what button to press though. For people who don’t they need a way to access this because the screen prompt won’t be long enough

I can’t believe that it took you so long to figure out how to move icons. Having said that it is a pain, particularly when moving several. What I end up doing is placing them all in a folder, moving them and then removing them from the folder. Either way, moving a large number of icons, or moving one across several screens is a huge pain.
As with everyone else, I find the dock with 4 most common apps very useful however integrating the swiping for access to music or similar into the current dock (not quite what was suggested), I think would be a good idea. This would allow more common utilitys to be placed so they can be swiped to immediately and less common placed in the double tap dock.
For example place music on a left swipe, Brightness on a right swipe. and place data related (wifi/3g) on the left swipe in the double tap dock (where music currently resides).

I wouldn’t complain about a higher res screen. But for this size only someone staring at the screen looking for something to complain about would have a problem.

There are also other solutions than Pages. For instance quick office. This plays nicely with .doc documents and also can be synced with google docs (eventually drive after an update I assume), box and several others which I can’t remember at the moment.
I would not recommend using google drive/docs on the ipad as it is extremely frustrating

I don’t think usability for entering DFU mode is really a concern, given the number of people who will be doing this/ frequency that it is used

I don’t think this argument is particularly valid. Yes physical click is reassuring, but that didn’t stop people from moving to virtual keyboards.

I think the iPad could have gotten away with no home button as you are mostly using it with two hands (at least I am), so I very rarely use the home button, normally using gestures to swtich/leave apps.
Having said that, the phone will need a gesture that can be done with the one hand, and the currently gesture on the ipad for this is not workable in this situation.
I don’t know what gesture would be simple enough to let you leave an app and not also be triggered by mistake, something that is common for the notification area in games that require lots of swiping.

I don’t get why there are so few matte screens. Given how they are almost all glossy, the company that chose to sell with matte could use it as a selling point. “Easy Viewing in the Brightest Conditions” or something like that, or “For people who don’t hide in dark rooms”
