“While it’s sure to be a hit with many, we can’t help but think that the new iPhone trachea just doesn’t innovate enough to keep up with the competition. It still has the same old homescreen pink flesh, and the skeuomorphic design, intended to make the interface look like an ordinary trachea, looks dated compared to the flat design of the robotic tracheas present in today’s androids. 7/10.”

Speaking as an Apple fan, I think the company and its products are fine right now, but what Wall Street is worried about is whether they’ll still be fine years from now. Apple certainly has weaknesses at the moment: their web services are less robust than Google’s (although Google happily makes all their services available to iPhone users), and their future in developing countries isn’t completely clear. Also, they make way more money than anyone else yet they don’t seem to know what to do with all that money.
Ultimately, I’m sure Apple is doing cool R&D on new products and technologies. Unlike Google or Microsoft, they tend not to show us these half-baked products early. So investors are left to hope that Apple will exhibit growth in the future.
No matter what Apple does, the pessimism surrounding the company will be extremely high. Apple pessimism is contagious—and it’s an easy bandwagon to jump on. Being a secretive company has both benefits and drawbacks.

First song I bought (that wasn’t a free iTunes Single of the Week) was Feel Good Inc.
First iPod was 2nd generation 1 GB iPod shuffle. It was my 12th birthday present, and now it belongs to my 8 year old brother.
Second iPod was a 2nd generation 8 GB iPod touch. Bought it when I was 13.
Third was a 16 GB iPod nano (the square one), which I still wear as a watch. 4th was a 4th generation iPod touch (32 GB), which I got from my dad after he got an iPhone. I recently sold this iPod.

This. When iTunes was launched (especially when they launched it for Windows) it made all the other MP3 software look like shit. Remember MusicMatch Jukebox? Yeah, that load of manure was iTunes’s competitor. It wasn’t until later that iTunes got all slow and stuff. Besides, iTunes 11 fixed a lot of the sluggishness (with regards to the Mac version, anyway).
Seeing as how companies like Spotify finally have created quality subscription music services, I think there’s a good chance Apple will, within the next year or so, start its own paid subscription service. For now, selling songs is still very profitable, and Apple has the App Store to help sell hardware now rather than the Music store.

If Grand Theft Auto has taught me anything, it’s that you can blow up a store in a mall, go on a shooting rampage, and then run outside and drive away from the police.

A summer iPhone is a bad idea because then it’s old hat by the holiday season—Apple’s strongest quarter. Also, it always takes at least 12 months for Apple to release a new iPhone (the 4S was even longer because they were shifting to a more profitable holiday release).

From what I’ve heard, one of the problems with designing the new Mac Pro is how to get video signal out of Thunderbolt when you’re using a real graphics card. It’s possible they’re waiting for Intel to release new Xeon/whatever it uses these days CPUs with good enough integrated graphics that they could then use with Thunderbolt.

My theory is that they’ve shifted the iPad release schedule to a holiday release. That’s why they released a slightly updated iPad and the mini last fall instead of waiting until this Spring. I don’t think they’re shifting to a 6 month release cycle, because last time it pissed off 3rd gen iPad owners and got bad press, plus the current models are still competitive.

Pretty sure the iPad is what Windows RT is competing against…if you can call Microsoft’s struggling effort competition…

If it has Siri, it potentially could allow for quick replies to messages without having to reach into your pocket/purse. Also, you could screen calls on your wrist.

Because some idiots think just because Apple doesn’t share what they’re working on, it means they’re not working on anything and just sitting on a pile of money.

I honestly don’t think most people aside from us nerds want stuff like Google Glass. Or at least we don’t want the people around us wearing it. A Siri-integrated watch, on the other hand, might work if it brings something new to the table…
