That only indicates that the device is on. It does no indicate that the device is taking a photo or video. Glass needs an indicator so that the person in front of the wearer can ask for recording to be disabled and be assured that their request was acknowledged.
It’s very easy to tell when someone is using a mobile phone to take a photo or record video. The phone is usually held out directly in front of that person. This is not the case with Glass.
