“You won’t mind being watched if you have nothing to hide” is an incredibly stupid argument that I’ve been hearing way too much lately.

ICS, Project Butter, and Holo are all Matias Duarte, not Larry Page. But yes, Page is doing great things at Google, and the company is at least a lot more focused now that Schmidt is out.
Duarte and Page are a kind of Ive and Jobs couple – the very best kind of pairing. The beauty and the brains.

No need to entertain the idea that this assertion is true. There’s absolutely no chance that Samsung is that large a percentage of units sold.
They, much like Apple, just make more money per device than the competition.

The ability to use a physical button to take pictures made some (not much) sense on the 4 and 4S but wouldn’t be any good at all on the 5 or a 5S with the same design. The device is too thin and light, you shake the camera too much when pressing the button down. Better to just press the button onscreen.

If you’re bored of iOS, buying an Android device isn’t going to help you. Android has certainly evolved into its own feel and aesthetic, but it’s still basically the same visual metaphors as iOS. If you’re looking for different for the sake of different and don’t mind losing some serious developer support, I’d go with Windows Phone. Microsoft is the only company out there that’s really playing with completely new UX.
This has the added bonus of giving you a whole new ecosystem to jump into if you like the experience. Replace iPhone with Lumia, iPad/MacBook with Surface RT/Pro, Apple TV with Xbox.
It’ll be better in some areas and worse in others, but it’s something new and you won’t be bored anymore,

It’s only half a millimeter thinner, but it’s got a tapered design that’s going to make it feel a lot more hand-friendly than the 920. HTC uses this design in its flagship and it really makes the device seem less thick.
Unfortunately, the fact that they announced the 928 so close to their event implies to me that they’re unveiling a new flagship and Verizon won’t be getting it. I could be wrong. I hope I’m wrong.

It’s not The Verge’s fault you can’t figure out how to add images. Upload them to a hosting site, grab the URLs, and click the images button in the big “Media and Assets” section under “Inserts”, found to the right of the post pox.

Considering how new it is, I’m expecting very little in terms of surface-level change. Probably just an announcement as to how much more data they have now compared to launch, how many cities have flyover now compared to launch (Paris! In 3D!), and a healthy dose of self-congratulation on both of those points.
Moving into slightly more hopeful territory, an offline mode would certainly be welcome, and Apple lags behind the competition here. Both Google and Nokia have offline maps and directions.

That’s true, and they’re definitely the Windows Phone OEM. But the path they’ve chosen has made them a big fish in a very small pond, and it’s unclear how long they can sustain themselves there.

It’s inconceivable that Nokia could somehow be in a better position than they are at the moment if they had gone with Android instead of Windows Phone.
Same beautiful and iconic hardware with an operating system that has actual mainstream support? I’d say that’s very conceivable indeed.
