“Preview” is the operative word. It isn’t done. When it’s 100% RTM then you’ll have an argument.

No mention of Zune for XBox? The article isn’t worth the recycled electrons that it’s printed on. No offense to the electrons! It isn’t as popular as iTunes but it’s certainly as capable. I buy season passes to favorite shows (Sherlock, Legend of Korra, Doctor Who). I can stream or download them from anywhere in fact. Sorry, but until you add that in, the article lacks credibility. If you’re going to write something like this up with fancy charts, you can’t cherry pick the features you like. ;)

Seriously people are not upgrading because of one semi-annoying bug? Talk about hardcore. The benefits of 7.5 vastly out weigh that one bug. Also, the fix is out for the bug but AT&T won’t push it out. /sigh

“Within 2 months, it will be the best selling TV set in the history of humanity.”
No happening. Why? I don’t spend a premium amount of money for televisions. I did once and I will never, ever do it again. It was the worst buying decision I’d ever made to put it lightly. If it’s dirt cheap, then it’ll sell like mad. Not a premium though. Nope.

The majority of people will buy retail boxes that come with preinstalled 3rd party players.
17 days ago on DVD playback: how VLC does what Windows 8 can't

Misleading in a couple of ways. A “lot” of people means a “few” people that follow this stuff. The masses won’t even know or even care. It’s also misleading because it’s not that Win8 CAN’T, it just DOESN’T by default. The majority of people will buy retail boxes that come with preinstalled 3rd party players. Most people installing from scratch will have enough tech know how to download a 3rd party player. The tiny fraction that can’t figure it out will google/bing it.

There’s really no other way. Without it the beam would zip off into space, a wall or someone’s face. Also, laser blasters that fire bolts that are visible? Nope. Speed of light anyone? :)

You’re in the minority, so it won’t be native. If you really want it, you can pay a little extra for it. If it brings the cost down for 90% of the users, then I’m all for it. :)

I’ve played a DVD on my PC all of three times maybe in the past 5 years. If there is a DVD in the drive it’s usually to burn something or to rip something. This change is fine by me. XBox takes care of DVDs for me.

It still doesn’t look like actual 60fps. I mean maybe it is but the quality is meh. Just looks like it was slowed down with software which I suppose it actually was? I have one of those Casio slow mo cameras and while the resolution takes a hit, the results are just awesome. :D

Premiere and you’re done. In fact, I think you can even open FCP projects IN CS5. Anyhow, I love it but I’ve never used others. It’s a native 64-bit app now also. It just works nicely with the other Adobe apps so that’s why I always gravitated towards it. :)

Dang I see people all over the place who must have disposable income. Trading a phone, getting rid of a phone, getting a second or third phone… I pick one phone and use it until I’m eligible for upgrade. I’m not dropping hundreds of dollars to get an unlocked device either. Stupid U.S. carriers and their greed! Anyhow just venting.
I’m a little surpised by his remarks but nonetheless agree. It isn’t a perfect phone YET but it’s far better than public perception makes it out to be. It’s smooth (most of the time) and I can accomplish a lot of things in a jiff. I seldom have to dig around to do things. Can’t wait for WP8 plus I’m up for a new phone by then. ;)

I’m not even sure what this “pass” was. Low marketshare and a handful of devices is what we have. It is missing features, yes. Otherwise I’ve had a great experience with it.
As for Apollo, keep in mind how big it is. It isn’t an incremental upgrade like 7.0 to 7.5. It’s a complete overhaul. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if the current version of WP was just to get into the game and WP8 was what they had intended all along. I’m not sure how it will affect people’s perception or marketshare but the update itself will be a force to be reckoned with. At least it better be. ;)

Got a chance to see Atlantis go up last summer. Say what you will about the shuttle program but holy crap what an experience. It’s highly emotional to see people sitting on top of that much power and watch them get hurled into space in a matter of minutes. There are, hopefully, better things to come but shuttle gave us quite a ride. Ad astra per aspera

A lot of people use Mac because it’s “safe”. So this statement isn’t that far off. I’m trying to inform my Mac using friends that they aren’t so safe anymore. You can’t just stick your fingers in your ears and yell “LALALA” anymore. Time to get savvy.

My PC ran for nearly 4+ years straight only shutting down/restarting for updates, power outages or vacations. Sure it’s anecdotal but my home PC has been running even longer. Get better hardware and/or seriously take a look at what’s installed on the PCs that would make them crash.
