I have to agree with you. For all the fancy fluff both systems have demonstrated, I’m already burnt out on the current gen and the line up for next gen looks – Exactly – the same!! I am 30 years young and have been gaming since ‘86 so I have seen my fair share of launch titles. Each generation has brought in New IP’s that made me jump and buy the console. The graphic changes were amazing and the new system was something to marvel at…….But this gen feels like the 32x to the genesis, an extension of the 360/PS3/Wii. The games look almost the same, they are some form of sequel, and the ones that are “new (watchdogs)” look like mash-ups of other games (GTA, Assassins Creed, InFamous).
I promise you this, in five years all three companies will be more involved in entertainment and media then gaming itself. Be prepared for even more sequels of (x) popular game like Call of Duty, because this is the gaming future we’re headed into.
P.S. – I am not a PC gamer, and while indie games are cool, they have something missing. There is an element that doesn’t make them as good as old school games. Few exceptions…Limbo, Braid, etc.
World at war was amazing, both the campaign and the multi. The environments were fresh and rich with vehicles and plenty of well thought open space. The death scenes in multi was the best in any call of duty. And Keifer Sutherlands voice was awesome. (Get the dogs!)
Why? I have alot of people in my family, some in the entertainment business who are die hard blackberry. And they’ve tried the iphone and are not impressed. Everyone works different so this doesn’t surprise me.
Just wanted to let you know, Nintendo is doomed if it fails. Microsoft and Sony make business and tons of it elsewhere, they don’t give a shit about a gaming sector, its still an experiment. James bond and Spiderman alone made for Sony what the whole lifetime of Wii sales last year. Nintendo is in trouble because gaming IS there only business. That’s like all the people who say Nintendo could buy Sony out rofl. That’s like saying huffy is going to buy out Toyota.
