I just think $9.99 is too much. That’s more than Netflix! If they brought it down to $4.99/month, I would be on-board.

The post makes it sound like only the three AmEx cards when it launches later this year. What about the other partners? Also, just two cities? What a joke. I guess I was under the impression this entire thing would be implemented with existing hardware, but now it doesn’t sound that way.

I think I’ve been reading this for over half an hour. I need to loop back around to this article later. Would probably be a good idea to get some work done as some point today.

Visa is looking even further forward, to a world where meager physical material like plastic cards or even NFC chips aren’t necessary for payment.
Bring on the fingerprint scanners!
In all seriousness, this space is such a cluster. I have Google Wallet on my GNex but haven’t even used the $10 I was given when I signed up because PayPass is hardly accepted anywhere around me. I’m not even that concerned about the creation of a unifying standard at this point; I would just like to be able to connect by Visa cards with Google Wallet…or any NFC-based payment app.

I saw his AMA yesterday and was almost convinced to back the project. I think the watch looks awesome and I’m excited for it to be released, but I’m hesitant to purchase a gen 1 product, especially when there is room for improvement and they’ve only announced one app that will be available at release. Plus, I would really like to see The Verge’s review before I purchase :-)

Good piece. I knew there was turmoil within HP but I had no idea it was this bad. I’m still bummed about the demise of WebOS…maybe they’ll bring it back one day.

It’s about the overall experience, and right now there aren’t any 10" Android tablets that can beat the iPad. We need more tablet-optimized apps!

I agree. I have a Nook Color with CM7.1 on it right now and am planning to get rid of it for either the Galaxy Tab 2 7" or the Nexus tablet (if it’s announced at I/O, not going to wait longer than that). Lately I’ve been contemplating just getting a 10" Android tablet instead but the lack of tablet-optimized apps is a real turn-off. With a 7" tablet, most phone applications tend to look fine, but I’m afraid they won’t work or will work like shit on a 10" tablet. And with an iPad 2 costing $399, it’s really hard to justify buying a 10" Android tablet right now.

That’s interesting…I haven’t seen any of the tech bloggers mention that. Well, in that case, I’m sticking with AMOLED.

I also read The Verge through Google Reader. When the site launched, I felt the design was cluttered so I began using the pull-down menu that shows stories in reverse chronological order. This made it much easier to determine where I left off. I switched to Reader before MWC (I also follow a couple of other tech sites) and haven’t switched back because it’s so much easier to manage my articles.

Great post! I’m glad someone out there agrees that this is a nice phone. If I didn’t have the GNex, this could very well likely be my next. My only point of contention (possibly) is the screen. I’m happy with the screen on my GNex but I haven’t yet seen the One X screen that everyone has been raving about.
