To my surprise (having recently installed it) Nova Launcher with the cube animation doesn’t seem to produce homescreen bounceback. That was one thing that did totally bug me with the N7 and it’s more enjoyable now.
But I can’t complain overall – my N7 performance seems about the same despite heavy use and I got it only a few weeks post launch. Still happy.
Terrific terrific news. If I stay permanently in Canada (back moved from the States earlier this year), I’ll be waiting till December before even considering signing anything. Unexpected b-day gift!
I certainly won’t argue that the Android tablet app market is anywhere near the iPad’s, but I’d have to disagree about the disparity widening. Since the iPad Mini was released, my Nexus 7 has seen:
Flipboard tablet optimized
Press (as pleasant to use as Reeder)
PocketCasts redesigned
Most weather apps like Accuweather redesigned
Improved Twitter apps (no, not Tweetbot but the choices like Falcon Pro are certainly better than before)
Beautiful Tumblr app BBC iPlayer with decent streaming quality (thanks vpn)
Improved New York Times app
And of course some of Google’s apps updated – especially Music
It can definitely be better, especially from major news/media organizations (cannot believe CNN and ABC still have no compatible apps). But overall it really has become more pleasurable to use compared to when the Mini was announced. JMO.
