I’ve priced some gaming components needed to make a decent rig and the MBP’s over the past few days, and I’ve found the sweet spot for the rig is around $1100, while the entry level “gaming” MBP’s with the AMD dedicated gpu run around $1700 (with a student discount). But check this out http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-650M.71887.0.html This is the rumored NVIDIA 650M to be used in the refresh…if you scroll down to the fps of most games, you’ll see its quite capable. With boot camp, of course. So basically the $600-$700 or so difference in price correlates to build quality, OSX, and a copy of windows 7.
