I use hangouts quite often, probably daily. The one feature that seemed liked a good idea but turned out to be awful is the muting while typing. Yes, it is annoying to hear typing, but more often than not someone gets muted while they are talking even when they’ve taken care of the keyboard issue.
I just look through those fonts and didn’t think there was anything overtly wrong with them. Are you upset that fonts are used with frequency, is that it? If so, sir I fear you misunderstand the function of art. You are having your decisions driven by the perceptions of others instead of your personal interpretation of a particular piece.
I don’t know what is wrong with this “generic” category you speak of? Seems like a rather silly judgement to make. I happen to like minimalism for products, and they’ve been implemented well in brands such as Great Value.
I think that looking at the image the design made me think exactly what they were trying to get across: The essentials, without being extravagant for something as simple as frozen dairy. And yet I would never have used that font otherwise.
