I too live outside the US and was planning on buying my first console until I realised I could not buy from their online store in my country (my country is in the EU so I don’t get what’s the problem). That basically means no demos, no dlc, probably no game updates. I’d only be able to play games as they come boxed from a store. That seriously blows when from Steam/Origin I can buy anything I want. They don’t want my money? Then I won’t get a console.
If anything else, if you really like it buy it to show you support HTC’s current direction. Even if the company’s going to fade that does not mean support will be dropped just like that.
Really, if you like a product just buy it, the happening of a company should not form part of your decision. Leave that to their board members, chairpersons, employees, share holders, etc. You’re a customer and you can choose to buy their product or not. Simple as that ;)
P.S. I don’t own the One but I do have a One X (I don’t find the need to spend some €600 euro every year for a phone).
Never thought about it but that’d be great. I only really like HTC and Asus on the Android side, HTC makes the best phones for my use while Asus makes the better tablets. Just my opinion, of course.
