Xbox also doesn’t have a real web platform. Google can win this game if they get some serious devs invested since publishers would love to get more exposure on Google Search.
They can also just get some copycat devs to release remixes of popular games. That’s the power of an open platform.

Time has shown that people want either a really cheap computer or a premium device. Google’s first attempt at a desktop OS has already put them in 1st place at Amazon. After Google IO it’s going to be doing even a harder hill for Microsoft to climb. Microsoft has 90% marketshare and it’s only going to go down.

In order for its marketshare to increase it would have to outsell Android and iOS on at least a few carriers. Don’t think that’s happening.

PCs are not dead but they are in a slow decline. Remember that Blackberry had good quarters leading up to their plunge.

I think the future is going to have to be a combination of mobile + desktop. I can’t see any standalone desktop titles staying dominant 10 years from now.

They are promoting their own products too hard I think. Look at their OEM partners and you can see that they are quickly losing interest in building for the W8 platform.
