I’m really looking forward to it. If images send I’ll be hopping on over instantly.
The amount of time I’ve wasted pressing the “previous messages” button in whatsapp alone makes me want to quit it…

So what you meant was the top two platforms? Why even say platformS then. Why not just say iOS and Android?

Many people are talking about free SMS etc. I have unlimited SMS also, however:
I also share images very frequently.
I absolutely can not afford MMS. It’s simply too expensive.
Whatsapp at the moment is filling a void for me.
Not all my friends can afford iPhones.

I’m extremely impressed by the direction MS is going. Outlook.com is a subtle but nice improvement over what I’ve seen in W8 natively and I hope they’ll be going more in that direction with 8.1.

Bummer. I’m actually very impressed by Skype on my Surface at least but I went back to iOS after being v disappointed by the lack of a 7.5 → 8 transition on my Lumia. Hope WP8.x irons all these issues out!
Thanks for the details btw!

Whats the issue with Skype out of interest? I’m pretty happy with it other than it’s lack of inline image previews.

While we’re going with truisms I’ll join in.
All phones suck more than any of their respective owners will ever admit.

Agreed. “Best” is a silly word to use. “the best” depends so much on who, what, and why.
Lately I wish I had a keyboarded phone rather than my iPhone as my use case changed – I chat a lot suddenly. Previous to the use case changing the iPhone was a no brainer. Now it’s lack of a keyboard or swype or something is really making me uncomfortable with my phone.

At one point I got so frustrated with XMPP on my PC that I took a photo of my screen with my iPhone and sent the image via whatsapp. Yes. It Just Worked. They got the picture. That was all I wanted to do. It has limitations. But at least it actually works!

From my experience non proprietary == suck. XMPP is a good example in fact. Try sending a picture with it some time.

I’d love to have Metro iTunes for my Surface (so RT). Could watch my TV series on it that way.

I didn’t even know Visa make debit cards… So I’m guessing the 90% is quite country centric.

I much prefer Apple’s photography to the renders of other companies. Frequently the renders just don’t capture surface texture very well.
Amusingly, due to Apples heavy use of alum and their minimalism they are one of the few that could get away with it…

Hey thank you. I’ll make sure to switch to a Lumia next time, didn’t realize they have large bezels. If there is one thing I hate about my iPhone 5 it’s the lack of a smooth bezel, I usually rest my phone on the top of my ear and after a long call always end up with a painful ear.
