I don’t know what devices or apps you use, but supporting multiple screen resolutions is actually very easy in android. The sdk provides easy tools, and no sane developer bases their layouts on absolute values so you shouldn’t see any odd stretching of resources and nothing should be off the screen.

Software differences aside. I think Samsung has more to fear this year than last. Last year, HTC just had way too many iterations and models that their flagship Sensation didn’t even seem like the flagship phone. Now with HTC’s rebranding and competitive hardware, Samsung has something to worry about.
The thing that made Samsung phones great was the amazing hardware. Last time, the exynos and the quad core mali400 gpu just dominated. The amazing hardware combo showed in the super smoothness of the UI. There was no “wow” factor this time, and Samsung is betting on software more than they did last year. Hopefully, next year there will be a “wow factor” after hardware gets more mature and we see Quad Core A15’s and Mali604/Mali658, and a better design hopefully.

Your Galaxy Nexus uses the Broadcom BCM4330 for wifi. Your triumph used its predecessor, the BCM4329.
It seems like the Galaxy Nexus’ wifi performance should be quite good
Did you run an actual speedtest comparing the two phones, or are you basing it off of the bars that the device displays?

But the main problems you have with your phone are Droid X specific, thats why its unfair to generalize it to all android devices.
If I were you, I would just get the 4S now. I think you’ll probably have to wait til October to see the next iPhone. If you still want to wait, and you really are having a miserable time with your Droid X, spend an evening on xda-developers and learn how to get ICS on your Droid X.

Because some people feel better that they made the right choice by downplaying the things that they don’t have. Its much easier to do this with the anonymity of the internet. You rarely see people arguing over why their platform is better in real life.
And its sad to be labelled a fanboy because you like on platform over the others. Personally, I believe if you don’t tend to like one platform more than the others, you either have no soul, or you really don’t care that much about what your phone means to you.
My friend recently got a Lumia 900 and its a beautiful device to see in real life. I happened to think it was the perfect device for her. For me, I prefer Android because I love flashing different roms, I use a lot of google services, and I can personalize it exactly to how I want it to look.
Everyone looks to get something different out of their device and having the mindset that everybody who doesn’t like the thing which is best for you is just plain ignorant.

Also, GPS actually works, and whereas I would experience slowdowns here and there with the captivate, the very very few times the i9100 slowed down was when there were bugs in the rom I was using.

I used to have a year old Captivate running the very early ICS leaks and I remember getting pretty decent battery life( at the end of the day I still had around 20% remaining). Now that I have an international galaxy s ii running a rom based on AOKP, I use my phone a lot more than I used my captivate(mainly because now I have unlimited data). I usually end the day with 50% with medium use, and 25-30% with very heavy use.
I should also mention my i9100 was about a year old used, so you should get much better battery life out of a new one than I currently am getting.
