The complaints are because this opportunity to debut new technology was squandered by shining the spotlight on legacy software.
All of those non-exclusive releases will not be dramatic. They will NOT push the envelope of what’s possible on the new hardware. EA has architected these products such that the majority of the codebase is compatible across XboX One, Xbox 360, PS3, and PS4.
Nobody on that stage said, “Hey, we’re going to break paradigms with this new game because we coded the thing from the ground up to take advantage of all 8 cores in the Xbox One CPU.” They came out on the stage and said, “Don’t worry. This new game console will have the same titles all the other consoles have.”

To be blunt, I don’t think you have any context by which to judge what constitutes ‘dangerous equipment’.
Anything used by technicians to construct Apple products in air conditioned facilities will be exponentially less-dangerous than the tools on a construction site or any place where manual labor is performed. By putting robots on the Apple assembly line, you’re leaving much more dangerous work to be performed by humans.
Sure, that manual labor has to be done by someone (we’ll always need ditch-diggers), but when the candidates for ditch-digging don’t have the option of working on an assembly-line indoors, the pay for ditch-digging will remain quite low because they have no better competing prospects at employment.

I wonder if the New Yorker is using this software to proof their articles before publication… If so, the Verge could improve its professionalism by implementing it on this site.
To connect to it, a source must use the TOR anonymization network; from there, they can upload a file and receive an randomly generated code name in return.

Although the dome was deemed to unstable, the surrounding roof should have been able to support a person with a fishing rod. I could have cast a hook right onto that thing within three tries and then gently pulled it down.
Had it been in a tree, other branches would prevent this solution, but since the surroundings were clear line-of-sight, a fishing rod would have been a very easy solution.

I’m not defending this doomed concept, but the reason why this probably costs $200 is because the maker hasn’t produced a run of 500,000 to leverage economies of scale. It’s a custom-built device that probably uses an adruino or some-such embedded system to get on wifi and format the rss feeds to send to the printer. Sure, the individual components don’t cost squat, but someone has to assemble them.
