Netflix trying play cover up for the licensees. One of the downfalls of online media. Maybe if the licensees stop holding out for top dollar, will we see less shows expiring.
It does not, or at least it doesn’t very easily. For the Mac, CS3 still had some update code that used PowerPC code, which doesn’t run on anything Lion or above. There are work arounds to updating the CS3 apps on 10.7 or 10.8, but it’s not the best option. Besides, the apps run slower on newer OSs. Upgrading from CS3 to CS6 on the same OS, it was plenty fast. I’m sure a good amount of that was the updated software, but that’s the point here.
As someone who signed up for Creative Cloud last year (upgraded from CS3), I wish I had another year at $29.99 a month. Would be nice to extend current CC subscribers for another year.
Otherwise, I am ok with the CC subscription model. Makes it very easy to keep all of the apps updated. Compared to buying the Master Collection in the CS6 suite, it’s a big savings.
