Talk about a disappointing effort. What a piece of shit. Sony has all the resources in the world, yet they can’t create a single mobile device that people want, except for $1500 laptops that nobody can justify paying for.

It’s really great to see a hardware tech startup doing great things. Hopefully they can blaze the trail for a whole new onslaught of disruptive US hardware manufacturers

I still don’t understand how a design gains points by having a removable battery and SD slot. We’re talking about at best, single-digit percentages of smartphone owners who consider these to be plusses.
Are people really “burning” SD cards with music they want to listen to, and then swapping them out for another card, while on the road? Are they filling one SD card with photos during the middle of an important cameraphone photo session, so that they need extra storage? Are they manually transferring files by swapping out th SD card, as opposed to emailing, uploading to dropbox, or just plugging the phone in via USB? Do you not agree that the alternatives to using SD are actually superior to actually using SD.
As for battery life, if you are truly mobile all the time, you already have a charger in your bag and in your car. Additionally, if you have an iPhone, you can get a Mophie case, otherwise there are a ton of 3rd party brick batteries with USB charging ports.
You write great reviews, but awarding points for things that are completely useless for the vast, vast, vast majority of customers just seems wrong.

eh, from my experience buyer’s remorse happens much more often regarding things you need, vs. things you want.
The only people who have ever even HEARD of this device are smartphone nerds like us. This same group of people generally don’t NEED a new device, while at the same time not being prepared to wait that long :-)
How long do you think it will be until the SIII (with LTE) is available on contract in the US? Nobody’s even announced that they’re going to be announcing anything yet, right? There’s a chance it could be 3 months away, no?

Get over yourself. I wasn’t trolling. It was supposed to be funny. Sorry if 404 funny not found.
US Galaxy SIII is no less vaporware than the iPhone 5 is – unless you’re talking about the 0.5% of US smartphone buyers that buy their phones unlocked from overseas. It seems like there’s only a slim chance that the SIII is available in the states before the iPhone 5 is announced. Rinse and repeat next year. Announcing phones months and months before they’re available (or worse, announcing phones months and months before you ANNOUNCE WHEN they’ll be available!) is downright stupid.

Possibly I should ask a better question:
Assuming that getting this phone means tying yourself into a 2 year contract, does it make sense to wait and see what Apple has planned with their next device and OS?

I’m guessing not good. I’ve got my “you have lady hands” flame suit on, but when I owned my Evo, I was NOT happy with one-handed use. Not whatsoever.

I don’t understand. The marginal cost associated with gaining more users is negligable at this point. How will more users lead to less profitability?

I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. I have 31 pages liked on my profile, and I receive every post from every single one of them, on my newsfeed in realtime.

I guess it all depends on how many friends and page likes you have. Nobody I know uses categories or sub-categories. Personally, I unsubscribe from people that whine too much, but that’s about it.
I don’t think brands are having any trouble getting their posts viewed by people who like them, but I’m interested if you have a link showing that this is happening in a significant way.

IF their user count ever decreases, I’ll change my tune.
I don’t understand how anyone can honestly believe that social media is a fad. Sure, it’s been adopted at a completely explosive rate, but it’s not something that most people are getting tired of, it’s the exact opposite: people are only spending MORE time on the site.

Users have a level of investment completely unseen by any other service in the history of the internet. One out of every 7 internet minutes is spent on Facebook. FB is your entire life, digitized.
If you think it’s so easily plausible that people will just stop showing up, then why haven’t we seen it happen yet? Google Plus is arguably a much better product, and it’s been out for a year. Facebook is built on a massive infrastructure. No startup company is going to be able to offer hardly any of what Facebook offers, and even a behemoth like Google can’t get people to stop spending all their time on Facebook.
It’s a new era, and a completely new and revolutionary platform/product. Saying people might one day just stop using Facebook is akin to saying that one day people might just stop wanting to take/share photos.

They have critical mass, and they’ll maintain it. No matter what happens, no significant amount of people will exodus from fb. If that were going to happen, we’d see way more people trading in their fb account for a G+ one. I’d be interested to see what percentage of G+ users NEVER use facebook anymore. It’s not very many at all.
They’ll always have the user base. Even a 15 second pre-roll ad at the beginning of each login won’t stop that. They have time to figure out monetization. They’re already a $1b/yr company. There’s nowhere to go but up.

Exactly. They’ve kept the familiar feel, yes, but they’ve added unbelievable amounts of functionality and capability.
They’ve scaled their design incredibly well. It’s really a thing of beauty. And it’s only the beginning.

Dude. 6 of them got paid $1b for 18 months worth of work. Even if that $1b in stock is now only worth $820m, I’m guessing they still feel all right.

BOOM. Roasted!
He thinks people will all of a sudden pack up and leave. Not gonna happen. Ever. (oh heyyy, Google Plus!).
They have time to figure out the monetization. Obviously the stock price will fall until then, but to think that there isn’t more profitability in FB’s future is ridiculous. There’s not going to be some mass exodus of their talent to go work for G+, lol. What bs doom and gloom.
I’m going to reevaluate in 6 months. NOBODY knows what’s going to happen to FB stock in the next 6 months. Nobody. I just wish I could know how low it will go, lol.
