Um, she may find you retarded if she is not a gamer. Or worse, consider you to be idle and in need of some chores whenever she sees you playing.

Well, when you slap the Facebook button on your site, Facebook gets to track your users and better learn their interests and thus allow to better taget other ads, e.g. Your competitors are likely interested in advertising to your clients. So there is value in it for Facebook even if you do not pay them. To what extent are they monetizing it yet, I suspect not too well, but this means they have a lot of upside if they can improve their ad efficiency.

Amazon stands to take over all trade when all other sales outlets die. At least this is the endgame scenario. What is the endgame scenario for Facebook? Virtual crop farming domination?
This does not mean fb is a bad business. It is just a question of valuation. I love ice cream and for a few bucks I buy it often. But if the price were a few hundreds I would not be buying.

Well, new kids may decide that site used by old kids is lame. This is how it happened to MySpace, there wasn’t a mass migration that suddenly happened. Not saying this is in the books for Facebook, just that even its continued existence is not guaranteed, let alone justifiable valuation at $100B levels.

There is some merit in this comparison. That said, it may still be fair use. Law accepts reverse engineering communication protocols so you can enhance the product. In this case the protocol was even known since the apis are part of the open source. Using them could be seen as a fair use since it added new and enhanced functionality on mobile phones.

I wander if lawyers were removing potential jury members based on the phone they used during the pre-trial.

I believe they asked for $2/device which is less than $15, also I believe Motorola never pledged any Frand when it comes to mpeg patents. They never joined mpegla and the main problem with mpegla is that none of them ever pledged to any Frand terms either. It just so happens that Motorola started asking for a bit more for those patents first, but everyone expected mpegla to do the same as soon as they believe they have fully locked the market.
At the end of the day, it’s just money. They will fight a bit in court and agree on terms in the end.
