I’m a Paranoid Android fan, myself. I also run Nova Prime with MIUI icon pack. It’s really clean looking and the standardized look of the icons is wonderful.

I, myself, love the new Card style Holo layout that’s been inspired by Google Now. I own the Galaxy Nexus and I haven’t regretted purchasing it yet. I could never purchase a skinned Android device (now) because Android’s got a beautiful UI and there’s no good reason to hide it. I’ll take a stock device over a skinned one any day. I know what you mean about performance, though. Let’s be honest for a second. No matter what you get there will always come something faster/all around better. For me, personally, the Nexus 4 is the perfect balance of performance and UI. But you do you, man.

Maybe consider a Nexus 4, also. Jelly Bean is beautiful. Other than that, I understand where you’re coming from. Until Holo, I had a strong hatred for Android as it was clunky and poorly designed. Now I’d be upset if you gave me anything but an Android device to use, primarily.
