It sounds like they’re not disabling used games, they’re just charging a fee to play them. It’s mandatory that games are installed to the HD and linked to a Live account. If someone wants to install a disc to another account, then there’s a fee charged.

The question is how much is the fee? If it’s too big, you risk pissing off people who have more than one Live account holder in their household. If it’s too small, then what’s to stop two friends from splitting the cost of a game and an extra install fee and each getting a new game for cheaper than what they’d have paid at retail.

You got that right. Lots of value for Microsoft. None for me. I think that’s about sealed the deal. If you’re telling me I’d have to pay to play a game I borrow from a friend, I’m definitely going PS4.

I’m not sure I would assume that they’ll keep the media center functionality. Didn’t they remove media center itself from Windows 8? I thought it was an optional, paid download now.

It’s starting to look more and more like it’s Nintendo’s continued track record of not courting third party developers. Maybe E3 will hold some surprises, but I’m starting to get worried about the Wii U’s long term prospects.

I believe the showrunners have said some things to the effect of they don’t mind knowing that it’s being pirated because that means more people are seeing it. However, I’m sure HBO minds quite a bit. Anecdotally, the few people I know who have ever gotten warnings from their ISP about pirating all seem to have been downloading HBO series.
