I love how some gamers here (particularly those who do not like MS) prefer the PS4 for its allegedly superior (and not yet released) game library, and assume that because of this, the PS4 will beat the Xbox One in sales or popularity.
That’s totally why the Wii destroyed the 360 and PS3 sales early on, and why Kinect provided a huge resurgence to 360.
All everybody out there wants is hardcore videogames!

Right except that doesn’t make the name lazy. The other names were often lazy because they simply described the fact that those products were the first of that brand/series… with the exception maybe being the HTC One.
The Xbox One actually makes sense for what the console is and follows the message that Microsoft is trying to communicate. If anything, their use of the same name is much less lazy because they took a name, previously used by others, to actually describe something meaningful in relation to the product, as opposed to simply numbering the product according to generation or giving it some arbitrary “cool” sounding name.
So, yeah, I’ve been thinking enough.

But even the 1.0, as faulty as it may have been, added a ton of great functionality to the console, including the added exercise component as well as voice and gesture navigation (though of course those needed serious improvement).
The fact that it enabled the 360 to be so much more than it previously was definitely made it more than a gimmick.

I think the name is simple, elegant, concise, and appropriate.
The console is meant to be a unified source of media for your TV, an “all-in-one” console. The name describes this perfectly. So, no, it’s not “lazy.”

And I thought your point was pretty stupid.

I was just about to write something like this. The console is not meant to be the center of attention: the TV is.
Granted, I wouldn’t mind if it were sleeker or prettier, but considering the power it packs and the experience that it will offer on the TV, the appearance is of much less importance to me.
And personally don’t think it’s ugly… just quiet. Bulky but not ugly.

I agree that the design is a bit weird (mostly the thickness) and questionable… and I’ll have to see how the controller is (the 360 controller is the best controller I’ve ever used.. so not sure they needed to change that in opinion)… and it’s certainly not revolutionary as much as evolutionary…
But still, this looks really solid and awesome. Wait and see what Sony actually releases but this is very appealing so far. Glad they packed in almost every feature I could’ve asked for at this point.

Just aesthetically… I saw a guy in New York wearing them and he definitely looked more like a douchebag than a hero. But that would probably change if they actually sold a lot
