This desktop in kiosk mode is for the haters of metro, so that they can live in past. Hopefully they will get the start button also. Otherwise desktop is there just one click away and no need to boot to desktop. On my touch screen laptop, I work mostly in Desktop mode and I rarely shutdown my laptop. So from a sleep or hibernate it comes back to desktop. I rarely shutdown my laptop so I don’t know what’s a big deal about being able to boot to desktop as a feature. Windows 8 boots so fast compared to windows 7, I don’t mind clicking on the desktop tile and going back to desktop after a reboot. Its still so much faster then old windows 7 on the same laptop. I enjoy the modern apps when I am not doing work. I enjoy the new look of the start screen, its so well done and will improve over time with bigger and smaller tiles in windows blue, and beyond. PC born again.
