Here’s hoping the Nexus tab fills the gap.

To get developers to invest time and money in their tablet apps people need to actually start buying Android tablets in high volumes. Relative to iPads, there’s a small number of Android tablets out there right now, and an even smaller number of them are worth developing for, and an even smaller number of people interested in paying for apps. Whatever the critical mass of ownership is we just haven’t reached it yet, but as happened with Android handsets eventually the selection and quality will catch up.

That’s right, let’s keep building things that don’t last so that we have to spend money and pull more crap out of the earth to build new crap that we can throw away shortly after.

That argument is bull. Samsung is perfectly capable of designing great phones that don’t look like the iPhone. The GS2 is a perfect example. If the GS3 is ugly it’s because they designed an ugly phone. Period.
Personally I’m sure it doesn’t look as bad as the press images suggest. When the Galaxy Nexus was announced I thought it looked like someone took a rolling pin to an HTC Magic. In person it looks much better.

Nevermind, I take that back. The UX31s don’t have rounded corners, and the trackpad is centred.

It`s either the old UX31 or the new, unreleased UX31A.

It’s already way too easy to make my alarm snooze. Letting me say the word “snooze” is a step in the wrong direction.
Make me recite Yeates or something. Alarm doesn’t stop until you can prove you’re awake .

It’s the font on the lock-screen clock that’s doing it for me.

Neither do I. It’s become a way for people to elevate Apple more than anything. I can see the problems if I look closely but in real world use it doesn’t come up, and generally I just find it so sharp and vibrant.

Do we have dimensions yet? With that screen and the buttons, it should be even bigger than the Nexus.

I think a good rule of thumb when it comes to UI design is to not push back against Mathias Duarte. I love stock ICS way too much to use anything else.

I’m really, really shocked that it’s a PenTile display (Engadget confirmed it). After the shitstorm that went down over the Galaxy Nexus I can’t imagine Samsung is eager to revisit the issue, so I gotta think they’re having some trouble manufacturing a non-PenTile AMOLED display at that resolution.

Didn’t watch the live-cast, but from what I see the interface looks like Gingerbread.
Also, I think it’s significant that the two top Android phone-makers have now rejected software navigation keys. Seems like a slap in the face to Google’s vision for the platform.
Nothing I’m seeing makes me regret going for the Galaxy Nexus.

I should clarify, at that price it’s the best deal. Personally I’d also take it over the One X for pure Android, but that’s up to your personal preference :)

At $400 I’d say it’s the best Android phone you can buy right now.
