Wow, it looks horrible. Look at those blue, skinny back and forward icons.. and those File Share View menus also look horrible to me …

I wonder how much such a thing would cost. I would pay tons for being able to visit space (even if it is just low-earth orbit) and see our planet from space.. AND peek into the universe for real.. that would be AWESOME.
I’m still young, but I fear I won’t be able to visit space because it will never be affordable in my lifetime :(

They have different names because it’s actually different things. You can’t chat over gtalk with someone who is in a G+ messenger conversation, nor can you interact with hangouts AFAIK. It’s really messy right now.

Actually, that’s the only reason the app is still installed in my N1. I don’t use it and it eats up precious space, but that automatic upload feature is KILLER! And since I’m a big Picasa fan, it’s even better :-)
As a user who doesn’t use G+, I love G+ because of the improvements it has brought into Picasa: automatic backup from all pictures from phone, virtually unlimited upload space, UI updates :)

It’s not so easy. You don’t just walk into.. err, you don’t just recompile the source code of Android to a new hardware platform, it takes months to do a decent port.
Google is, by design, making updates reach phones about 6 months after the original source code release, and they can’t even acknowledge that this is (part of the) problem.
Of course, carriers not caring to update their devices or blocking updates which are ready for months is even more crazy, but Google is part of the problem.
Both can’t acknowledge that their are both at fault and as long as it doesn’t happen, the situation is not going to improve.

" Google does not have any agreements in place that require a negotiation before a handset launches."
Isn’t that just playing with words? They do come to an agreement with a manufacturar every time a Nexus device is released, which obviously has earlier access to the source.
Google acknowledges their problem without recognizing it, and that is very sad. They acknowledge that they only release it to the world when their first device is ready. As even android engineers like JBQ state, 6 months is a reasonable time frame for porting the release to different hardware.
So there it is: Google is, by design, making updates reach all phones about 6 months late. That’s not pretty, and it isn’t going to improve if Google doesn’t even acknowledge the problem!

If they had used someone else’s data, they should have given credit from the beginning, and now, at least offer an apology iMHO.
Having said that, the map data looks very ugly to me, like taken from an 18th century map. Hope this doesn’t catch on with iOS6 – or at least I hope they use different map designs.
