The question is how do they “move up the technology stack”? Forking the OS is not going to make them be any more like Apple.
What they need is desirable exclusive content, which they are not going to get by forking Android, because devs are still going to port to both Samsung and stock Android.

I think Sony is much closer to having a good exclusive ecosystem of their own with the PlayStation certified games and their movie and music labels. They can benefit from this exclusive content without forking Android – why give up on Google’s content, which helps them compete with Apple’s ecosystem.

Get ready for disappointment – the Lumia release is not going to change much at all

This is a wonderfully balanced device! Sony should market the hell out of it and there is no reason it won’t sell like gangbusters.

8. Will be on ICS soon

This is like the ideal mass market device!
