Unless the Mac Pro seriously moves downmarket, I doubt we’d see a Haswell in a 2013 model – the Haswell Xeons aren’t due until 2014, so the promised refresh this year will probably have Ivy Bridge EP.
My mind would be blown if they came up with a retina-class Thunderbolt display. That would be so incredibly amazing.
The common consensus seems to be that they will redesign the chassis to fit into a 19" server rack. I think that it would be a good idea.

No, I’m pretty sure the image has been cropped. If you panned up, you’d still see the Mercator Projection with the massively-stretched Greenland.

Am I the only one who thinks that the new Maps gets the fundamentals wrong? The screenshots all seem to show three types of roads: orange roads (highways), white roads (major roads) and light gray roads (minor roads). The light grey has very little contrast against the white roads, and it generally seems like it will be difficult to differentiate between which roads are more important. Why is yellow MIA?

I think a filter to sort posts by category would be a pretty good idea.
But it would also present some challenges though: what about drones, or tech policy, etc?

Every version of maps.google.com has had way too much UI chrome that is completely overwrought on the typically-sized Chrome window. This looks like a great leap forward in that regard.

Yeah I know. I was just being facetious. :)
I am interested in knowing how test tubes became associated with science laboratories, though. Wikipedia says they “are widely used by chemists to hold, mix, or heat small quantities of solid or liquid chemicals, especially for qualitative experiments and assays. Their round bottom and straight sides minimize mass loss when pouring, make them easier to clean, and allow convenient monitoring of the contents. The long, narrow neck slows down the spreading of vapors and gases to the environment.”
Obviously not ideal for many usage cases, such as growing babies.

I’m inclined to believe that it’s more likely that this is a Petri dish burger than a test tube burger. Test tubes would be too narrow and long, no?

fresh water shortage
Desalination. Very expensive and energy-consuming, sure.
crop wipe outs
If it gets that bad, there will be enough money in this problem that someone will genetically engineer crops important crops to cope.
collapse of a food chain
How does this affect humans significantly? Plants go through photosynthesis, and cows and sheep mainly eat grass.
Would this be terrible? Yes. Is it true that “nothing can protect us?” Probably not.

I can’t move apps to SD card.
It’s a good move, in my opinion. Why should software developers get blamed when people inevitably move apps to the NAND equivalent of the gunk that flows out of the bottom of an oil refinery, thus bogging down the performance of their phone and further ruining a user experience that’s already suffering from TouchWiz and glossy Hyperglaze plastic?
