For one, I saw posts from people with the same problem on Nexus devices. Check this and this.
I cannot say that the problem is SD card specific, just pointing out that unmounting did solve the issue.
Also, getting rid of SD cards is not a solution. -

When I first saw this one in the article, I thought, “this one’s pretty neat!”.
I still think so. Can’t find a flaw.
The colors are nicely complimenting each other. And the texture on the mask is awesome. -
