I don’t think it’ll reduce the amount of players online honestly when they see all the benefits they’ll be getting while paying for their ability to play online. Plus the PS4 is $100 cheaper than the Xbox One which basically means you are getting the PS4 and 2 years of PS+ for the same price of an Xbox One.
They’re only doing that until November when the Xbox One releases, though. PS+ has been doing it since the subscription service was available, as well as giving discounts for the games that weren’t free. Xbox Live isn’t doing that.
Face it, PS+ is the better online service now. As someone who really only plays their 360 because party chat is a thing, now that PS4 will have it I have no reason (from what E3 and the reveal has shown) to get an Xbox One.
I won’t have to connect to the internet every day if I don’t want to, I wont’ have to pay for PS+ if I don’t want to to use Netflix or any other apps, or to play single player games, I can still buy and trade used games as I always have in the past, I’ll have party chat, I’ll be getting discounts and free games, AND I’ll be getting the same amazing exclusive titles I was getting on PS3 and the 2 systems before it.
Basically this. Every time I watch an ad from Apple or their conferences, they talk and present these things as if they’ve never been done before (just listen to how they speak to the audience, you’ll get what I mean), and everyone in the crowd loves it. It’s ridiculous that these people are so unaware of what’s actually out there already that they just gobble this stuff up like it’s never been done before. I bet half the people there didn’t even make the connection of Android and the Metro UI being mushed together to form iOS.
It’s just ridiculous, and blows my mind every time.
