Not to mention that Sony is going to pull the same DRM stuff that MSFT is, and everyone thinking “it’s the same as last gen!” are kidding themselves. Once people realize XB1 offers more value and less headache through it’s DRM (since Sony’s isn’t centralized, it will gum up the process.) I can’t wait for the XB1, just for it’s media functionality. I game very little, the media is what sold me. I hope it has great local network media library integration like WMC does. If so, I will be buying one for more than one room. Very psyched.

Some of these features are cool, but I generally don’t think some of the features will be touched by the majority of gamers. I like the split between MP and SP downloads and the ability to que a game DL from your phone…but aside from that, are people really going to use that switch feature to see a video of how something is done? I’d think most people will have a second screen to do that. Also the PS4 screens looks just awful, their GUI needs some serious work.

At this point I just want a Surface with a fanless haswell chipset with an LTE option that’s maybe a little thicker than the RT, but not as much as the current Pro…or just a Surface laptop about the size of the Air, but with touchscreen support that converts somehow.

I agree that PS4 owners are in for a DRM shock, DRM is the new reality. iTunes, Steam, Netflix, Hulu, they’ve shown it works, publishers aren’t going to back down, Microsoft is actually being very flexible with the DRM in a way that Sony isn’t and that makes me excited.

Aside from military folks, which Microsoft has said they will make exception to, (I assume they can just whitelist all .gov IPs), who ever travels with their console overseas? Seriously, who? I want to meet this individual, and smack them. Most (not all) complaints about the Xbox One have been things that are so unlikely and outlandish. It’s starting to sound like the people who want to keep their landlines because there might be a solar storm one day that knocks out all the cell towers!

I have graph search but no newsfeed yet. Graph search sucks, but the new newsfeed looks great from the demo they have.

Internet message boards don’t dictate adoption rates, if this were the case Linux would have been the #1 OS since 1998.

If publishers are doing it with XB, they will undoubtedly do it with PS. The only exceptions may be Sony made games. Sony is careful with their wording, mostly because they know DRM is a reality but they want to sell their machine on some bad PR by Microsoft.

Unnecessary if they are going to start selling the new Xbox 360 for ~$150.

Why does the NSA need to see through your Kinect? Your phone and laptop both have cameras built into them, you spend more time with them than you do with your Xbox. Your phone is always on and the NSA can tap it even if it’s off, the only way to stop that is to remove the battery…which thanks to unibody design is impossible on the fly.

2005 dollars are not the same as 2013 dollars. There’s this thing called inflation. $399 dollars in 2005 is now about $475.

No, since 2005, the dollar has fallen in value. The $399 launch price of the 360 is now ~$475 in the same purchasing power.

That’s not expensive, it’s almost the same price as the 360 at launch if you adjust for inflation, and that’s with no Kinect or Blu-Ray: http://www.bls.gov/data/inflation_calculator.htm
