At the same time Chinese OEMs are able to sell tablets for $50 and make a profit. There’s something that MSFT is doing to make the x86 tablets cost a lot more than Android ones.

Microsoft does deserve some criticism. None of their ventures outside of the Xbox have caught on in the consumer space.

I want Android to have as good of performance as my desktop with a full desktop experience browser.
I know this might be changing dreams and shadows but ARM Cortex A15 is promising.

iPads are the most expensive toy right now when you consider that other tablets are $199, Gnex is $399 and laptops are in the $300 range if you know how to shop.

Once they are able to get x86 to get about 8 hours of battery life then ARM will almost have no advantage on x86.Ultrabooks prove that you can get x86 devices pretty thin too.

its the carrier and the OEM that determine updates. Skins don’t really affect anything. Look how long it took the Nexus on Sprint to get updates.

I would attribute a lot of it to the weakness of Google in selling music, movies and books. Amazon’s ecosystem is a lot stronger.
An Amazon phone if made by a good OEM would also dominate.
