I sure hope I’m not gonna hate Prometheus. I hope it’s just that the trailers are edited for maximum blockbuster potential and the movie itself will be more inventive than a regular Aliens spin-off…

I’m not against futurism. I’m somewhat opposed to all too-obvious (to me, at least) imitation of another person’s filmmaking techniques by a person who I know for sure is capable of inventing his own superior techniques.

as I understand, there will be no original aliens (as in h. r. giger-designed, acid-blooded dual-jawed aliens) in this one. it will deal with the race that prevoiusly inhabited the same planet that later was wiped out by the original aliens.
I might be wrong, but that’s what I gathered.

well, the only thing I could think of was: “it looks like Aliens”
it’s obvious, really. even the color scheme is wrong: Alien is more warm gray, white and yellow affair, whereas Aliens is brushed metal, blue and cold. actually, almost everything I loved about the original Alien — slow buildup, scarce dialogue, paranoia, claustrophobic interiors — seems to be absent from these trailers. they’re all about blue lights, big machines, noisy explosions and characters speaking in 90-s era action flick banalities. it’s almost as if producers drugged Ridley Scott and brainwashed him to think he’s James Cameron, because all of the above is really Cameron’s territory…
