Agreed, however consider the fact that you have to first download the game, install it, maybe even update drivers (sometimes requiring you to clean current drivers from you system), then starting the game, then tweaking graphic settings because the game may not be designed for your graphics card and finally playing the game. Of course, you only have to do that once per game. The allure of a game console for me has been simply buying or renting the game, putting the disc in (maybe applying a patch) and playing it. Xbox One appears to require game installs, which is not a good start imo.

In my head I’m equating the Xbox One to the Samsung GS4 (tons of gimmicky features, bloat) and the PS4 is potentially like a Nexus device or IOS device (less features, more streamlined and functional). That is of course just my opinion.

I’m sorry but this was awful. I see a game console as something that gets out of the way so I can play a game. If I wanted all this extra crap to fiddle with, I would just play PC games (sometimes I do).

The most popular phone in the world has a “small” screen. The reason for there not being a popular small Android phone is that there isn’t a small flagship Android phone available at the moment.

I agree, 1080p would have been perfect for me. No need to go higher than that for a 13.3 inch laptop IMO.

Besides the Droid RAZR Maxx, the iPhone 4s and 5 have the best real world usage battery life. By real world usage I mean web browsing and calls. This is according to Anandtech. Check out their reviews and you will see these phones at the top of the battery life charts every time.

Agreed, products like this may work once ARM socs become much more powerful (PS2 or even PS3/Xbox 360 graphics) or if Intel can finally break into the smartphone market. But with current gen ARM graphics, I just can’t see anyone wanting to see that on a 40"+ inch screen.

I’d rather have better battery life, the current screen resolution is good enough in my opinion. Battery life on the nexus 7 and other Android devices still can’t touch Apple’s.
I’m getting about 5 hours screen on time with my Nexus 7, my iPad mini will do almost twice that (both mainly web browsing).

Sold, even if it ends up having the Snapdragon 400. The 400 is still faster than the Soc (Snapdragon S4) in the Galaxy S3, which is plenty fast enough.

You keep referring to the 3DS, the product this thread is suggesting has nothing to do with the 3DS. The 3DS is designed primarily for games despite the Netflix app, this tablet (preferably with physical controls) would be able to do much more. A Nintendo Android tablet would be a contender for the Nexus 7 and iPad mini, thus needing apps like Spotify, Rdio, Twitter, etc. When referring to Android and the hypothetical Nintendo app store being much easier for devs to put their apps on, I was not referring to games but the aforementioned apps.
I’m not suggesting Nintendo should alienate their 3DS fans but rather they make this hypothetical product as their next portable game and media consumption console. By your logic, Nintendo would have alienated the DS owners by releasing the 3DS and the GBA owners by releasing the DS. Companies come out with new products and consumers expect that, that is common sense.
Are you suggesting the 3DS is the last product Nintendo should ever make in an effort to not alienate fanboys such as yourself?

Judging by your response it seems you took some kind of offense from a simple forum thread. I don’t understand why anyone is against the idea if Nintendo using android, it has many advantages. For instance, if Nintendo were to make this product, they would probably create their own App Store to sell there games and since its running android it would be simple for Nintendo to get a Netflix app, Spotify, rdio and tons other apps in the store. Much easier for devs then to have to design for yet another platform.

I think this would be a great device, 1080p might be too much, as long as its 1280×800 like the Nexus 7 or 4:3 would be cool also. They would need to do some kind of wikipad esque controls because touchscreen controls just aren’t good enough. It should be possible to lock down the games to protect them from being pirated, as long as its not an always-online requirement. Nintendo could customize Android to their liking similar to what Amazon is doing.

Same here, the only reason I rooted my nexus 7 was to put the AOSP browser on it. Absolutely destroys Chrome, and the benchmarks (via Anandtech) back that up as well.

I suppose if you’ve got nothing to bring to the table, there’s no point showing up. Nintendo should seriously think about just becoming a game studio exclusively.

Same here, I actually thought it was a lot better than The Avengers. The Avengers was like 50% bickering 50% who would win if Superhero A fought Superhero B.

Agreed, the decline of PC sells has more to do with the fact that most PCs from 2+ years ago can do 99% of what mainstream users and enterprise customers need them to do. There is no need to upgrade a computer every year or every Windows iteration. The exception to this is of course power-users and gamers.
