How does this work on mobile apps and integration with mobile OS (iOS, Android, Windows Phone, etc)?

Now, shall we look at the cons? You cannot remove your battery, which is something I personally find myself needing to do quite often
iPhone, Nexus 4, Lumia 920, the trend is towards built-in battery. Now, I understand if you personally prefer a removable battery, but that does not mean a built-in design to be a con. Having a removable battery is negated in terms of usability to the fact that your activity is interrupted when you change it, and then that is assuming you already charged the second battery. Meanwhile, with so many external battery packs out there, it’s more convenient to just plug those things when needed.
I agree that the plastic on the S4 is fine (in fact, I posted here about how it’s not as “cheap” as the internet made it seem), but to use that and bash the One? Come on. Both are fine in their regards.
There are other ways to defend Samsung, like the camera features and dual camera (those are great for your typical consumers), and the fact that they are relatively quick in shipping the S4 to all markets (compared to the delayed One).

Here’s the thing that I don’t get, and it’s not just an American thing. I can probably say it’s the same thing everywhere in the world.
When you have a person/company making it big, and rich, you see people start being envious, from name-callings, being haters, to trying to hurt the person/company. YET, when their own corrupt government are robbing them in broad daylight, people don’t seem to be bothered. Even more mind boggling, some want to be taxed even more! Supremely mind boggling.
Apple as a company is not a saint, but let’s face it. If you are so concerned about the country’s economy, why is it okay to spend so much money droning brown people then? And if you think you want to be taxed more, how about cutting the wages of those people in congress? They seem to be doing too well while the people are hurting, yet people want to be hurt some more with more taxes? Talk about glutton for punishment.

It’s easier to just rip them and encode them to an mp4 file that you can play on any devices. No region codes, no unskippable warnings that thinks you are a thief even though you purchased the disc, no annoying endless stream of trailers, etc. This is what I do on all my DVDs/Blu-rays now. The minute they arrived, I rip them, put them back in their cases and store them safely. I put the movies on my NAS so that I can watch them on any device I want.

Sony realized that it’s more profitable to have people re-buying their old games as “HD remaster” versions.
Regardless of the technical limitations, in the end, the bottom line is profit. Sony’s excuse to take out PS2 compatibility on the PS3 was cost. Well, fast forward, even though the price of PS2s and PS3s have come down significantly, they still won’t put backward compatibility back, and instead we see more and more remasters of old PS2 games. Jackpot.
I bet we will see the same thing here with Xbox 360 games being remastered for the One.

Well, the $500 price tag imo is there to actually discourage people to pick that option. Imo what yahoo wants is people to look at the ads. That’s the bottom line.

Not sure if that’s going to work as Flickr always resize the picture to multiple sizes, so if the file is not a picture, it would probably be rejected to begin with.

The beauty of Picasa’s unlisted feature is that I can share my stuff with others without making it public, and those people don’t have to sign up for a Google account.

There is one thing that I find Picasa to be better. Picasa allows you to have unlisted pictures/albums, meaning they won’t show up on search, but anybody that you give the link to can see the picture. Flickr only have public and private (or sharing with specific people). I might use Flickr as a backup, but for actual sharing, I’m sticking to Picasa. It’s unlimited for 2048×2048 size anyway, which is more than enough for sharing on the web.

Sweet. I was using Flicker, but the 200 pictures limit turned me off (I rather have a storage limit like Picasa, even 1GB at that time was better than 200 pictures limit). Haven’t been using Flickr ever since. Now, I might check it out again.

LOL, yeah, I didn’t even realize it has those features. Another one is the sequence shot (called drama shot on the SGS4).

Again, seems like a convoluted workaround. Why can’t the device (Apple TV) simply access the NAS and play the files directly?
I also have cloud entertainment access, like I said, and I don’t need an Apple TV. My TV itself already has clients for Amazon, Netflix, Hulu Plus, Youtube, etc. If I’m adding another box, I want to do more than what my TV can already do by itself.
Fans and whirring things? I have a Mac mini as an HTPC and I can’t even hear nor realize it’s running unless I see its LED light.

Choice is good. However, personally, the killer app on the HTC One is Zoe, and going stock means it loses Zoe. I rather have an official Nexus phone that I know and expect to be stock.

No. The problem with Windows Phone is marketing, and both Nokia and Microsoft have baboons for marketing.
4 days ago on Should Nokia end the partnership with Microsoft?

Agreed. The OEMs seem to be pushing the tech on the high end Android phones, yet they went backwards on the mid to lower end to pursue higher margin (many are still using the old first gen snapdragon chip, which is ridiculous). It’s the sad reality. At least in the US, there’s the Nexus 4.
If you want to stick with Android, I would get a device with at least Jelly Bean instead of ICS. JB gives better UI acceleration via project butter, so that should help a bit. Sony has the Xperia L, which should be fairly inexpensive. But yeah, the low ends are just sad.
This is why IMO Windows Phone is great. Nokia is releasing Windows Phone with good hardware at ~$300 or less price points, and WP runs smoother overall than Android.

What a convoluted way (you need an intermediary, either an iDevice or another PC/Mac). Why can’t Apple make the Apple TV to access a NAS directly? WDTV Live can do that. Its downfall is the lack of 10bit H.264 support (alas, no standalone devices do at this point).
I’ll stick with an actual HTPC for now.

Firefox. Been on Firefox since it was Firebird on various versions of Windows and OS X. I just couldn’t live without the extensions (add-ons). Sometimes I use Safari for certain sites, but primary is Firefox.

If Apple can make an Apple TV that supports NAS access, and playback of 1080p 10bit H.264 mkv, I’ll bite. I don’t care about streaming options like Netflix, Amazon, Hulu Plus, etc. My TV itself can do those things already.

-app ecosystem
-accessory ecosystem. This is huge for iDevices. The typical android phone doesn’t usually have more accessories than a few generic cases.
-iTunes. Unlike the general consensus, I like iTunes. It’s the best music jukebox software that I know, and the seamless syncing and smart playlists on iDevices make listening to my music even more enjoyable.
-podcast. There are a ton of podcast apps for android, but I still find iTunes to be better. Even better, the latest update to Apple’s podcast app for iOS allows it to sync my podcasts over all my iDevices.
-iMessage. I don’t use it but this is a killer feature for many people I know.
-mail app. I find iOS’ default email app to be night and day better than Android’s.
-safari. Much better experience than Chrome on Android.

The iPhone 4 doesn’t support AWS. Go to airportal.de to see if t-mobile has refarmed the 1900 band for 3G in your area. If yes, then your iPhone 4 will be able to use 3G speed. However, even then, expect coverage to be fair and don’t be surprised to get EDGE speed here and there. My area has officially been refarmed, but I still get EDGE is some places.
Considering the price you might be paying for an iPhone 4, I would consider getting the Nexus 4, unless you already set for iOS.

I am getting a lot of hate for what I said about the One, I am just basing it off reviews and pictures that I ahve seen.
The only “review” that indicated the One’s camera and battery life to “suck” seems to be the one here. Other reviews are saying otherwise.
In the end, how much money you want to spend? The Nexus 4 might feel dated, but remember when the Galaxy Nexus was released, it didn’t have the top of the line spec either, and it was okay for you. For its price, $350 for 16GB unlocked, the Nexus 4 is unbeatable in terms of value. You get a handsome phone with fast hardware and latest Android.
Imo the GS4 + stock Android is not worth the extra $300, plus with stock Android, you actually lose many of the GS4’s advertised features (gestures, its camera app capabilities, etc). It is, however, the only way to buy an unlocked GS4 in the US without importing.
The HTC One is an awesome phone, and I have one. However, I bought it because I know what I’m getting. If you are not sure, and you are already accustomed to stock Android, just get the Nexus 4. You can’t beat the price.
