I wish them luck, audacious and innovative projects like this deserve praise.
However I am rather leery of the “earthquake-resistant to 9.0 magnitude” statement… with no offense to the Chinese but they are not particularly good at building earthquake-resistant buildings that withstand lesser quakes, let alone a 9.0. 9 is pretty bloody big.
The 7 I have experienced relatively recently was no joke, and I hate to think what a 9 could do – that would be 1000 times more powerful.
Also… I wonder how this would fare in high winds. The Burj Khalifa is aerodynamically designed. This looks like a giant wall.

The clip is from the Forward Unto Dawn web-series that forms part of the Halo 4/Halo universe story. Halo has a huge amount of (rather good) novels and no tv series fleshing out the rather sparse and potentially confusing Halo games.

Kinect and Leap can co-exist: both are motion control devices but while one is able to better track fingers with high precision, the other is more suited for the whole body.

Now we’ll be focusing on the little glowing square in front of our eyes! A vast improvement indeed.
A question I’ve heard is why have a second device hanging in front of your eyes all the time when you can just literally look down at the thing in your hand? I told them “quicker notifications” but that didn’t seem to convince them. I also told them that it’s quite a revolutionary device. They also told me it looks silly.
I don’t think this idea will have quite the impact Google hopes for. They’ve had other revolutionary and cool things (Wave for instance) sink without a trace because the public didn’t understand it. Now they’ve also got the problem of trying to convince us it looks cool. The bluetooth headset, something far less … obtrusive sunk is dead after all..

Not much I’d guess… :P
This is the sort of thing that I would hope to see in an Razer or Alienware laptop or something. Stuff in stupid-fast components, water cool them and pipe the water through the lid and use that as a radiator.

Indeed. The Zune and Xbox screens above simply look the best – they seem to be a beautiful compromise behind no hold barred digital minimalism of W/WP8 and the (retrospectively) glossy excess of older Vista.

Well there is hope..from the other divisions at Microsoft at least – Visual Studio is getting very fast updates for instance and Blue seems to be a big deal in terms of features, unlike the service packs of old which as far as I remember didn’t bring major user-facing changes.

Yes, It’s been six months since the last update. But really it seems like the WP team are simply too slow. Apple + Google have large leads already with mature systems and they continue to innovate.
Microsoft must out-innovate Apple+Google while simultaneously bringing feature parity to the high bars already set. Otherwise, what’s the point? You can have the most innovative product in the world but if it doesn’t do what people expect it to do, those innovations don’t matter.
That being said, I do expect that MS will bring out an impressively hefty and innovative Blue update later this year simply because they’ve had so much time to work on it. I think we will see a lot more feature-parity and other other improvements.

Well both points are true. Instagram is basically useless and WP does have lots of the other apps anyway.
Still doesn’t make it less of a shame though that a big name in tech (Instagram) seems utterly incompetent and/or unwilling to bring their app to WP. Heck, Nokia would probably develop it for them, so it basically seems to boil down to a dislike of WP by someone at Instagram.

Pretty sure I’ve seen a document that says that to get particular deals, OEMs must include stickers.
I’ll try to find the document if I have time.
(But an example just from the top of my head – Vizio had to negotiate with Microsoft about Windows sticker placement. How about that…)

Nope, unfortunately. I like the versatility and the synchronization but I simply do not like the interface.
The two biggest things I really like about Fantastical is a) it’s interface which I find to be rather intuitive and simple and b) the quick add function that Fantastical has and that Google calendar has on the web version but I cannot find anywhere in the android app.
If the Android app had feature parity with the web version and a much improved interface that would make me happy.

Yup. This would probably provide a superior option to the goop that currently goes into processed meat products (hamburgers, sausages, chicken nuggets, etc), so I like many would have no trouble eating it.
But when I want a steak I’ll stick with the real thing :)

To play devil’s advocate to your point, I’d say that the drone strikes are payback. To quote you: “What goes around, comes around”. The drone strikes are the result of brainwashed people in these areas who have tried to spread their brand of hatred and death.
Though that leads to a never ending vicious circle…

Dunno, bomb a dam, cause it to burst and anyone downstream will have rather unpleasant day. And many people live downstream of dams worldwide – I bet you can easily find a dam where >3000 people live downstream (Three gorges dam comes to mind – millions of people downstream of that monster)
Though with all the above examples, they were just (facetious) possibilities to answer your question. (The examples were in the same realm of possibility of your Pakistani nukes example: virtually no chance of happening. Also, you never mentioned that I needed to kill at least 3000 people while still ensuring the survival of the US…)
Though on a more serious, a powerful military I would say is far more potent than a few terrorists precisely because of control.
