that Mozart is a great phone eh? I have one still and it is good, My HTC titan last pretty good too with large screen. My lumia 820 is OK even with Skype. One thing I will say, with every release of Skype I have had to uninstall and reinstall for it to work OK.
I can make calls fine but there is more to VOIP than that
p.s. I feel your pain

Im not asking him to support it – he chose to. Did you never visit Tom’s previous website? All I am asking is NOT to spin everything in a negative light – that’s what advocates do, usually.

I’m soooo over Skype. I bought 3 windows phones based on wanting a proper Skype experience. Wp7 came and I upgraded my 6.5 phone assuming we would get all Windows app – I was wrong, no Skype.
Oh well we live and learn it was a great phone non the less. I got an upgrade around 7.5 and we got Skype – yay! Oh no it doesn’t work its worse than useless. That’s OK wp8 will be great so like I got a Lumia 820 and waited. Now I have Skype but its too slow to wake up that I miss every call unless It rings immediately after I hand up from another call. Still cant access voicemail so its really of no use at all.
If Skype worked well on another OS I would switch, Sadly, even with these flaws Skype on WP8 is the best mobile Skype experience.
Skype has a very long way to go. They are so focussed on IM and I get that they want the BBM users but we have other options for that. We want Skype because we want a VOIP system and that’s where it fails currently. I expect it will come right and I am hoping that the VM issues relate the changes on the backend by MS but still if my PC can do it then my phone should be able to.

Really? WOW! if this is the response from the MS guy then I know that the Verge is anti MS and that Tom really has settled in. Oh well it is the Verge and I expect no more. Such a shame because winrumors was a great site and your attitude there was much more positive and subsequently, much more enjoyable.
I might agree that is isn’t raining apps but without positive support no eco system stands a chance, if you can’t see the potential in WP and don’t feel motivated then you should probably stick to Android or iPhone. I don’t expect you to a blinded fan boy but a little support for MS isn’t too much to ask surely?

I agree and how much share do Google need before MS can take them to court to argue that they are being monopolistic by not developing for WP? Back in the day, MS had to develop Office for Mac to keep DoJ off their backs. They weren’t forced but they certainly did it before they had no choice.
