Google+ should have been replaced by Hangouts entirely.

I have been searching for an experience like the T-Mobile Sidekick for years, and have yet to find it. (sigh)

Could not have put it better. Android is great, Hangouts/Babel will probably be good. But BBM with built in video chat, screen sharing, read receipts, will be a complete feature set for the major smartphone platforms. And at no cost. Plus you wont be forced into signing up for Google+ to use BBM, which I’m assuming will be needed to use Babel.
Google+ is the Windows Phone of social networking services. Which is why Babel wont be that great, and why Windows phone wont get BBM. BBM=success and a known brand

LOL – BlackBerry when they give it away for free instead of charging for it.

This is a move for them to be acquired by somebody (Microsoft) so they have a cross messaging client to add to their portfolio.

Totally agreed. I have a nexus 4 and its kind of overkill for me. I need facebook, email, and whatsapp, something to take text notes with, and a calendar. I feel like thats what most people want to access, and most phones are 10x more powerful than they have to be. Asha 210 with whatsapp would be awesome to have. Honestly even a blackberry.
