I usually transfer files via AirDroid. I can’t offer a suggestion to fixing the current issue, but if you can’t figure it out, I would use AirDroid as an imperfect solution.

I don’t see that as some excuse to not fix the do-nothing and bloated agencies as well as cutting unnecessary war efforts and trimming the requisite social programs into efficient machines

Perfect opportunity to show that correlation does not imply causation. Let’s say your friends live in an area serviceable by city water, they are more likely closer to junk food and candy in corner stores than someone who is on the outskirts of town. It can look like one factor but be another. Not saying it’s that specifically, but it could be a million things.

You know, without the naturally occurring minerals, water would actually be toxic?
Is that a question or a statement?

To be perfectly fair, do-nothing and bloated agencies account for an incredibly small fraction of the budget. $1 billion is sand off a beach in the federal budget. MC, SS, and defense are over 60%.

It was really interesting! I was very much an outsider looking in, though, so some of it went over my head. The highlight for me was a panel on “brain food” that talked about the ways that different compounds in different foods fit into the chemical reactions that influence/power our brain. It was all very scientific, which was extremely cool, not the kind of Doctor Oz fluff you see on tv. It was so popular that every inch of the floor was filled with people sitting when the chairs filled up. Everyone there was extremely nice, but considering the field they are in (working with people professionally) that didn’t surprise me. Bill Clinton, they keynote speaker, got sick and phoned it in, but I hadn’t registered to see it anyway.

I agree with you, like Obamacare, backtracking on that kind of stuff is really difficult even without contested initial support. That being said, I firmly believe that corporate interest will make it impossible to even get to the “if they fixed it” stage.

If they fixed it, their corporate special interest support would vanish immediately. It’s safer to say you are against it, so the people reelect you, and not doing anything about it, so the corporations continue to support you.

Wow, what timing! I saw this research at the APA in SF this weekend and thought it was really interesting. I was there for very tangential reasons, an econ major in a sea of medical doctors.

I guess a sucker is born every day. I read Tim Cook’s quote and rolled my eyes about as hard as I did when Larry Page sang his kumbaya crap at I/O.
Their job is to pay the least legally allowed. If you believe they are paying a “fair” rate for any reason instead of the minimum legally required, they what you believe is that management isn’t doing it’s job.
