I bet one of the major reasons is to conserve battery life as much as possible – which is a good thing. I don’t mind it.

Why can’t they just release 2 versions of the iphone with different sizes? One 3.5 and one 4?

I want the new iPhone to have 3 things:
1. 4" of screen
2. LED notification light, please!
3. Android’s App Drawer – I’m sick and tired of having to scroll through folders and icons like crazy.
And no, I don’t want to buy an Android phone. Their lack of quality apps and occasional weird lags repels me. I’ve had an EVO before, no good.

Most BB users I know:
1. were given phone free by company
2. like the physical keyboard
3. Only email and message
4. hardly ever browse the web
5. take some photos here and there
6 often carry a second personal phone, like an iPhone
If BB can keep this same demographic as their clients, it will work. But I don’t see anyone paying for this on their own. After all, it’s about ecosystems and not just the OS anymore

I actually think this looks pretty clean. I just don’t really like how the corners look a little awkward with the curved round edges against a the sharp edges. Yes, I can see the Lumia influence here, but I don’t mind that. Do you envision anything more about iOS6 besides just widgets?

Totally depends on your personality and what you’re defining as multitasking. For ex, for kinesthetic learners like me, I quickly get bored with watching/listening to a long recorded presentation. I’d rather be learning bits, and then practicing it hands-on and then going back to learning.
Another little nuance of multitasking to consider is that how “invasive” the other task is. For ex, I can’t read while listening to any music with words, but I can do fine with classical or some jazz music, which appears to provide more focus b/c it’s more like white noise against the other distractions around me.

I hope someone actually implements the cards/stacks multitasking from WebOS into the iPad… That would be awesome.

Great post. I really really hate the new google redesign. One major thing that annoys me is the Google docs icons. I expect the text color button to actually have a color like ‘red’ or any other color than gray, and I also expect the highlight button to be uh, yellow? Some UI person wanted ‘looks’ over sensibility and has ruined it. Yeah it looks nice, but I hate using it.

Android’s main focus is getting people to search on their platform, that’s where the money is. Apple’s main goal is to sell a fine, usable product with a full ecosystem that has people’s everyday use cases in mind. That’s why the iPhone’s so much better quality.
Google doesn’t care what company slaps on Android onto what hardware, they just want the numbers.
