The syncing is nice but the apps themselves are horrible – Viber decided to wake my screen whenever I get a message, even if I turned off the setting, and it also vibrated even when I turned that off. It got annoying enough for my entire friend group to move back to WhatsApp after two days, even though desktop support is a really big thing.

It was an art feature in Darling Harbour (Sydney) during January. It was great!

I took this on my Galaxy Nexus, I was suprised how nice it came out considering the camera is pretty bad.

My theory is not that they don’t have competent graphic designers, but that they don’t care about their consumers. This also explains the lacklustre industrial design, and the feature overload – it’s all to shift units and turn a big profit, not to make a good phone (even though it did make a pretty decent phone).
I don’t like this approach – I think they should make phones because they want to make great phones, not because they want to make money. But at the very least, you need a decent phone if you want to sell it, and the GS4 is decent.
This applies to pretty much all industries, too – TV often feels like nobody actually cares about the show being good, and it makes TV worse, but it’s still, on some level, alright. And of course, there’s going to be thousands of people that insist that “Today Tonight” is the best show on television.

My Galaxy Nexus has been really slow lately (I blame Facebook entirely for this, uninstalling helped a great deal), and the screen has been annoyingly prone to smudging, and the battery life has been steadily going down over the months, and the camera has always been sub-par. Despite all those ‘functionality’ flaws, the thing that annoys me most, and that I notice most, is that it gets really slimy and oily on the edges, in exactly the way the entire back of the GS4 is described in the review. Design of the phone is most certainly very important, and I’m speaking as a power user and developer.

Design is not just form, and if you think it is, you don’t know what you’re talking about.
