I voluntarily use gmail for free, youTube for free, google maps for free, facebook for free, google/bing for free….I’m already being paid. I’m bartering my data for free services instead of cash. I’m not stupid. I’m well aware of that and I chose to do so.

I’m wondering if this was a business decision pressure from the gaming industry. They can’t make money if people don’t buy new games. They can easily tell MS that they won’t make very many games at launch if its backwards compatible.
We need to remember more often than not silly decisions is not because of technical limitation but because some greedy fool with clout dictates it.

You can change the tax law all you want and maybe it will be effective for about 3 years until the lawyers figure out the next set of loop holes. It will just be an endless process. Just because you can do something legally doesn’t mean its ethical. And everybody’s definition of “fair” is open to interpretation. I think its fair that I should get $100 million dollars because I will do good with it…and I will also buy myself a fleet of kicking cars but I will be “fair” about it.

I suspect the iphones will be issued only to general purpose dod employees, none of whom have classified clearance because iphones are not fips compliant.

Not a surprise that the govt is taking these steps now rather than this time last year when apple was a much stronger company. The company is wounded and is having to scramble to head off a lot of issues atm. This is when they can’t afford more negative publicity and will be more willing to offer up some compromise to congress. A compromise is basically all I expect congress wants. Its a show to their constituents that they are doing something for their re-election. The whole process sucks of course as are the corporations involved. I love companies who make record profits and then tell their employees “oh we can’t offer you that training class we don’t have the funds, its all tied up”.

The easiest answer would be its the law’s fault. But quite often nobody knows if apple broke any laws until it goes to trial and the laws get scrutinized. But just because you can do something that is not against the law doesn’t mean its unethical. You can call someone all kinds of racist names and it would be legal but really should you be that stupid?

Clearly the S4 infringes on …. iphone 9. I’m sure the apple folks thought about all these features in the S4 and so that justifies their patent. Stay classy apple.

The problem is they spent their resources, time and effort into the auction house instead of the game itself. Playing through act iv you can tell they just said “lets take act 3 and clone it for act 4 because we just don’t have the time”. The game itself was just lacking in feel unlike previous versions. Blizzard basically just decided to make a auction house game and then said “oh hey we can throw some hack and slash in and call it diablo 3”

People were commenting that the auction system would ruin the game for many many months prior to the game’s release. It should have not been a surprise to anyone at blizzard. There was so much talk about it.
But hell, I won’t complain because I made a $150 off of something that didn’t even exist in any physical form.
